ONLINE 5 SESSIONS via Zoom with performance culmination on an agreed date. Classes are 90 minutes per session. Limited to 8 students per session for maximum results.

WHY US? HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT?

Rise Up Comedy hires only those that have innate wisdom to teach. We value teaching as a talent. A true teacher inspires the student to explore and follow their own innate wisdom, not mimic a celebrity. Our innovative method has students finding their own voice at lightening speed and surpassing years of comedy struggles.

Our teachers are also working professionals.

We offer classes online culminating into a performance.

We teach clean comedy and provide a safe space for people who know they are funny but unsure as to how to create that first comedy set.

We provide a safe teaching space free of prejudice and encourage those underrepresented in the comedy field (BIPoC, LGBTQ+, women and over 50) to claim their stage!

Week One - WELCOME and Finding your funny - what/who are you?

Week Two - Getting your game on!

Week Three - Set creation and feedback

Week Four - Rhythm - the secret ingredient!

Week Five - Polishing it up

PERFORMANCE - Invite family and friends to laugh! The performance is integrated with working comedy pros and partial proceeds benefit the nonprofit.

OUR TEACHER

Paula Jane Newman is an English comedian, actress, voiceover artist, meditation instructor, event speaker and educator. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, she travels the world inspiring others with her "cleanish" comedy, meditation wisdom and life story.

BIOGRAPHY

Paula has performed on line ups including Margaret Cho, Darrell Hammond (Saturday Night Live) and more. Notable Los Angeles stages include, The Comedy Store, The Laugh Factory, Flappers, The Comedy Chateau to name a few. Internationally at the Sydney Comedy Club, Happy Endings Comedy Club (Sydney), the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the United States at the famous House of Comedy and 3E's Comedy Club. She loves to MC/Host corporate and charity events where we are all working for a higher cause.
